About Us
The German-Israeli Voluntary Service (DIFD) was founded in 2015 as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel. The aim was to strengthen ties between the two countries at the civil society level. In 2025, the DIFD was further institutionalised by a Joint Declaration of Intent between Germany and Israel, signed by Minister Prien in Israel, among others.
Our programme is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 26 with German or Israeli citizenship or permanent residence in one of the two countries and is non-denominational. In Germany, our Israeli volunteers are involved in social institutions and in formal and informal educational projects. In Israel, German volunteers work in institutions for people with disabilities, rehabilitation centres and in senior care.
Start of service: March or September.
